Phvin

This young Cambodian woman, who is part of our Greeting Card Project in Cambodia, sat down with us and shared her life story—which we now share with you!

My name is Phvin and I am in grade 9. I have had malaria 3 times, when I was 12 I almost died from malaria.

I have 5 siblings and one brother who died while he was still in the womb.

There are lots of problems in my life. My father died when I was so young. My mother works very hard to raise her children. Even though it’s been so hard for her to work, she never gives up working for her family.

I am so proud of her that she raises us very well.

My younger siblings and I went to school and we really wanted to continue our studies, but we couldn’t afford it so we had to stop.

One day, I went to visit my school by myself, I was riding a bicycle and a truck almost hit me. Now I am afraid that it might happen again so I have stopped riding my bicycle to school but in my heart, I still want to go to school.

And because of my mother is not able to support me, I cannot return to school. I believe that my mother has pity on us because she sees that we wanted to go to school but she couldn’t afford it.

Even so, I love my mother very much and am so grateful to her.  She works so hard for our family. However, I studied until grade 9.

I would like to say thank Darren and Minako for their prayers for me and for my family.  Please continue to pray for my family and me specially, pray for my mother. Thank you!
