We first met Phun through our Greeting Card Project in Cambodia. The young Cambodian woman shared her story with us, which we’ve recorded for you below.
Here is Phun’s story, in her own words:
My name is Phun. I have 7 siblings but my one brother died at the age of 5 and my one sister died from a bad fall. I had malaria once.
When I was young, I had a hard time and was unhappy because my family was farmers. I really wanted to go school but there was no one else to help my parents work in the field.
So I quit my studies when I was in grade 6. I help my parents work in the field so that we are able to earn some money to support our family.
Sometimes, my friends ask me why I stopped going to school and they keep asking me this question again and again, but it is hard for me to answer the question.
Then I cry because I want to continue my studies but could not continue because my parents were sick, and nobody could help them work in the field except me.
Sometimes, I asked myself why did this hard time happen to my family? And I had no hope in my life.
But I am so thankful to God that He is always with us and He always listens to our prayers. But please keep us in your prayers. Thanks!
