Neang

Neang dropped out of school when she was just 13 years old because her father was too sick to work. The girl took his place, helping her mother work in the rice fields.

“I was little and sometimes it was very hot,” Neang told us. “I received 35¢ a day.”
Eventually, her other siblings were forced to quit school as well to provide for the family’s basic needs.
When Neag was 20 years old, she married and now has three children; they are ten, eight, and five years old. Neang’s husband is a construction worker, but is currently out of work. And though Neang scavenges through garbage to try to make ends meet, it’s not enough to keep the family afloat without loans.
Work of Your Hand then partnered with Neang to help her provide for her family with resources and training to make greeting cards. Then, through Work of Your Hand, we purchase bulk orders of cards to ship and sell in North America.
The income from those cards make life more affordable for Neang—things like food, electricity, health care, and more. Thank you for choosing to partner with women like Neang; you are changing peoples’ lives, one purchase at a time.
