Meet Trung P.

  • Receiving an education while being equipped as a servant of God.

Trung is in his twenties and is the eldest son in a family of six. He is a quiet young man full of passion for God. He and his family live on a lake without clean water and electricity. He had helped his father fish from a young age. When he was 15 years old, he lost both legs in a boating accident and was taken to a hospital in town where he heard the gospel for the first time. He became a Christian and asked a missionary to open a church and a Vietnamese school in his village. He attended school and church and his faith grew steadily. He can still perform daily activities, even ride a motorcycle and boat. However, when he stands or walks for more than 10 minutes, he is in a great pain, but he never complains. Currently, he is studying the Cambodian language at a grade 1 level in a Christian school. It seems to be a long way for him but he has a strong desire to complete his studies from elementary to high school then go to university. At the same time, he would like to be trained and equipped for God’s work.

  • How he got started in this livelihood project:

A missionary who served the Vietnamese in Cambodia saw the poverty and destitution of Vietnamese people and brought her awareness of the need of education and training skills for children, youth and adults. She connected with Work of Your Hand for the greeting card project. Trung is one of the youth involved in this project. This greeting card project will help him to receive a fair wage, support his family for basic needs and allow him to continue his studies.

  • May 2013 Update:

Unfortunately, due to family complications, Trung is no longer able to make cards for WYH. Please pray that Trung would continue to seek Christ during this difficult time and that he wouldn’t give up on his dream of building a church in his community.
