Chomrern

This Cambodian teenager lives at home, and her family struggles to make ends meet. Chomrern partners with Work of Your Hand through our greeting card project. But rather than tell her story in our own words, we’ve translated a message from Chomrern.

Here is her story in her own words:

“My name is Chomrern, I am 15 years old and I am in grade nine. I have believed in Jesus for 3 years now.

I have four siblings. I am the youngest child and I am the only child in school.

My mother sells fish at the market and my father is a farmer. My family is poor because my mother is the only one who earns money to support the whole family and she also supports my schooling.

Even though I do not have a bicycle to ride to school, which means I have to walk to school every day, I am not disappointed and never forget about God’s grace for me. He gives me strength to walk and encourages me to study.

Sometimes I feel pity for my mother because she works so hard even sometimes in the rain or in the sun. She always supports my studies.

I want to be a tour guide or work in an office in the future. I hope that God will provide it for me one day. When I graduate, I hope I will have a nice job to do in order to support my family just like my mother. I believe that my studies won’t make my mother be disappointed.

I call myself a Christian who always trusts in the Lord Jesus alone.”

Thank you for partnering with people like Chomrern, and for changing lives, one purchase at a time.
