Debbie Thul

Debbie is married and has 3 adult children. After staying home to raise her children, she recently returned to social work (the area of education & training she received prior to having a family). Debbie is an active member of her church community, and has served in a variety of ways. She has led Sunday School programs, taught children and coordinated the nursery. At this time her passion is to disciple & encourage women through leading Bible studies, and to come alongside those who are struggling by serving in the church’s Compassion Ministry.

A theme verse for Debbie’s life would be: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20) It is the work of Christ in Debbie’s life that makes her the person she is today, and she is aware in whatever she does and however she serves, it is because of the love, grace and strength of the Holy Spirit.

Julie Young

Julie Young and her husband, Greg, have three children: Caitlin (12), Cameron (10) and Connor (5). In 2005, they moved to Calgary from Vancouver for Greg to go into full-time mission work with an organization called Engineers Ministries International Canada. They have attended Foothills Alliance Church since coming to Calgary. Julie’s area of service, both past and present, has been in the nursery and teaching children’s Sunday school, leading small group Bible studies and leading after-school kid’s programs. Greg presently serves on the Board of Elders.

Along with being a missionary’s wife, Julie works part-time as an acute care physiotherapist at the Peter Lougheed Centre. She is passionate about following God’s will and showing His healing love and compassion to those in need. She has had the privilege of participating in two short-term mission trips to Honduras and Peru. She is currently planning a third short term medical mission trip to Haiti in June 2010.

Julie enjoys meeting new people, coffee with friends, cycling, staying fit, and being mom to her three children.

Joy Stalder

Joy Stalder started attending Foothills over 20 years ago. She earned her Certified Management Accountant designation in 1983 and worked full time in the oil patch until her first child was born in 1991.  Joy has served at Foothills in women’s and children’s ministries, and most recently has participated in worship arts.  She is currently the accountant for Foothills Alliance Kindergarten Society, and has served on their Education Advisory Board for several years.  Her husband Lawrence is on the Board of Elders for Foothills Alliance Church.  Joy is thrilled to be part of Work of Your Hand Foundation, as she believes in changing the lives of people for the better in a sustainable, dignity-preserving manner.

Daryl Ginter

Daryl and her husband, Lorne have two adult children: Sheldon and Hilary. Daryl was born in Ontario and has spent enough time on the Saskatchewan prairies to consider herself a “farm girl.” Part of the “farm” still sticks—she regularly visits her cousin’s Strathmore farm to ride her favourite horse.

Daryl’s areas of ministries over the years have been quite varied: serving in the nursery, teaching children, leading small groups and helping on numerous committees. However, Daryl is passionate about Women’s Ministries and currently serves as the facilitator for Evening NEWS and on the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team. She loves to help people grow in their knowledge of God, discover their gifts and passions and then see their ministries uniquely released.  Most recently, Daryl has become an Elder at Foothills Alliance Church.

Daryl treasured staying at home to raise her children and enjoyed working at Samaritans’ Purse for many years. But, somehow, Daryl always ends up back in school! She has had the privilege of earning a Bachelor of the Arts in Religion from Rocky Mountain College and more recently, a Masters in the Arts of Leadership and Ministry from Ambrose University College. Daryl is also an accredited Alliance worker

Daryl’s life verse: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2

Ute Staus

Ute and her husband Don have 3 wonderful children, Kaela, Connor, & Monika and considers motherhood one her most treasured and cherished callings.  She became a Christian as a young adult and is so thankful to God for delivering her from a traumatic childhood and putting her on this journey of faith, hope, and love.

She has attended Foothills Alliance church for 9 years where she has served in the nursery, children’s summer camp, and is currently in  Women’s ministries & most recently in Intercultural ministries.  Ute is also hoping to serve with ‘Inn from the Cold’.  She is thrilled at the opportunity to serve with Work of Your Hand.

After her return from a July, 2010 missions trip to Cambodia helping in the Alliance English Camp for young adults in Phnom Penh, visiting ‘Place of Rescue’ orphanages, & Alliance ‘Love Your Neighbor” Vietnamese village ministry her passion to help the poor & marginalized intensified.

Ute is a prolific reader and loves facilitating group bible studies & discipling others in Gods’ word. She loves people and is energized and at her best when interacting & serving together with others.

Her favorite scripture verses are “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom to the captives, and freedom to the prisoners” Isaiah 61:1 and “Simon Peter answered, “Lord, who will we go to?  You have the words of eternal life” John 7:68.
